Spalted Apple Wood Bowl with Electric Blue Resin
This bowl is a blend of nature’s raw beauty and the vibrant artistry of resin. Crafted from a piece of apple from my firewood collection and resin, it invites the eye to explore a stunning dialogue between organic wood and a deep, lustrous blue resin.
The Apple wood forms the heart of this piece, its warm, golden-brown wood displaying intricate grain patterns, knots, and the characteristic dark lines of spalting. These natural features create a fascinating texture that is then dramatically enhanced by the electric blue resin. Poured to fill natural voids and contours, the resin shimmers with a metallic sheen, offering a mesmerizing contrast to the wood’s earthy tones.
The bowl is turned to a classic, rounded shape, with a smooth, polished finish that accentuates the depth of both the wood and the resin. Its organic form, with hints of a natural edge, further emphasizes the harmony between the raw material and the artistic interpretation. This piece is a fusion of natural wood’s enduring character and resin’s dynamic allure.
I didn’t put this piece up for sale as it was my first resin bowl. It sits in my home office along with a few of my other favorite items that I’ve made.
